Mario Andretti Event (Friday, March 20th)
Sun Valley Tire had a very successful Mario Andretti event! The turnout from the community was outstanding drawing in huge crowds. In addition to having Mario Andretti there to sign autographs, a DAFT truck and 2 Bigfoot trucks were there on display as well. Mario arrived to a warm welcome and between 10am – 2pm he signed upwards of 500 autographs for fans that showed up to Sun Valley Tire that day! A new weekday record for the DAFT truck was set with 584 people visiting the truck and display between 8am – 4pm that day! At 4pm the 2 Bigfoot trucks received a police escort driving 1.5 miles from Sun Valley Tire through the city of Prescott Valley to Tim’s Toyota Center, where the Salute to Heroes event would be taking place the next day.
Salute to Heroes Event / Bigfoot Car Crush Show (Saturday, March 21st)
The 2015 Salute to Heroes event was its 5th year in existence and has grown in size with each passing year, with the Prescott Valley Fire Department estimating that 10,000 to 12,000 people showed up at various times during the 4 hour event. The Salute to Heroes event is meant to honor all of the local heroes in the community (Police, Fire Fighters, SWAT team, Military Veterans, EMT’s, etc), and each entity had a station set up to meet and interact with members of the community. The event took place in the parking lot of the Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley from 1pm – 5pm with Bridgestone sponsoring the event. Sun Valley Tire is the main sponsor of the event and their presence (as well as Bridgestone’s) was everywhere. The 2 Bigfoot trucks were on display, the DAFT truck, a big Bridgestone inflatable, Bridgestone & Firestone tire stack covers everywhere, and 2 Firestone tents set up where Sun Valley Tire employees gave out Firestone cups, tire gauges, and pens to the people in attendance. Over 900 people visited the DAFT truck display in the 4 hours! There was also a stage with a band, helicopter rides, a classic car show, bounce houses, a paintball tent, and many other things to support the event.
At 6pm that evening was the Bigfoot Car Crush show inside the Tim’s Toyota Center, sponsored again by Sun Valley Tire! Tickets were sold to the event for $10 per ticket, with kids under 12 getting in free. With the purchase of a ticket, each person received a special Sun Valley Tire discount card. The event sold out and completely packed the arena, with an estimated 4,000 people in attendance! All proceeds from the event are being donated to the US Vets association. Don Otto (owner of Sun Valley Tire) stated the event raised $20,000+ to be donated! The show kicked off with the announcer for the event thanking Sun Valley Tire for making it possible and flashing his logo across the scoreboards. Then 1 of the 2 Bigfoot trucks came out and put on a car crush display. After that, one of the crushed cars was used to put on a jaws of life demo for the crowd. After that was done, another local sponsor brought in a professional BMX stunt crew that performed for the crowd. Following that, the SWAT team put on a demo that involved a local police officer in a bite suit being taken down by a SWAT team police dog and hauled off. After that concluded, both Bigfoot trucks were brought out together to put on a car crush display in tandem to finish the show. In closing the event, the announcer again thanked Sun Valley Tire for making all of it possible in front of the sellout crowd!
